The Calne Area Design Guidelines and Code has been produced by planning consultants AECOM with local input from the CCNP Steering Group and community members.
Forming a central part of the Plan Review it is intended to be used by Calne Town Council and Calne Without Parish Council (and its successors) when they respond to consultations on planning applications within the Plan area and in shaping their own future plans.
The Guide has not yet been through public consultation but is a sound technical document and therefore both Councils can have confidence in using its principles to respond to planning applications.
The guidelines cover all forms of development from large developments to house extensions and details such as shop fronts and the public realm.
The CCNP Steering Group have requested that both Councils to start to use the Design Guidelines and Code in the consideration of every relevant planning application consultation. On the 21 June 2023, Calne Town Council adopted the Design Guide for use at their Planning, Licensing and Highways Consultative Committee.
This also means that members of the public can use the Design Guide when commenting on a planning application.
